In this role, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of secure and scalable Java-based solutions that directly impact the health and well-being of our nation’s veterans. Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that aligns with the VA’s mission to provide exceptional care and services to veterans and their families. This is a meaningful opportunity to apply your technical expertise to public service, improving lives through innovative technology solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications supporting VA systems. Participate in Agile development teams, contributing to daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards. Develop and consume RESTful web services and APIs. Collaborate with QA engineers to ensure robust testing and quality assurance. Troubleshoot and debug existing applications and provide timely resolutions. Support application deployments, including CI/CD pipeline integration. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Follow security, privacy, and compliance regulations applicable to federal systems. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Java development. Proficiency in Java (JDK 8+), Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC). Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React or Angular is a plus). Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and microservices architecture. Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle). Familiarity with version control tools such as Git. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with federal systems or health/benefits applications (VA, MPI, ESR, VADIR, etc.). Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM) or enterprise data synchronization platforms. Familiarity with privacy and compliance requirements for systems handling PII/PHI. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Vetting: Candidates selected will be subject to a background investigation for clearance eligibility by our government client. ​​​​​​Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 annually, plus benefits, including medical/dental/vision coverage, PTO and a partial 401k match.
