Electricity • Education • Training • Energy • Standards 51 - 200 employees Founded 1968 ⚡ Energy 📋 Compliance 🔒 Cybersecurity Standards Developer Yesterday 🇺🇸 United States – Remote 💵 $105k - $125k / year ⏰ Full Time 🟡 Mid-level 🟠 Senior 🖥 Software Engineer Apply Now Receive Emails with Similar Jobs Report problem 📋 Description • The Standards Developer manages projects to develop quality Reliability Standards that effectively mitigate risks to the BPS. • Works closely with subject matter experts, NERC staff, and federal regulators to ensure Reliability Standards are technically correct, clear, and measurable. • Adheres to the NERC Rules of Procedure to satisfy due process, openness, and public comment. • Lead developer on projects, develop high-quality Reliability Standards, implementation plans, technical rationales, and supplemental documentation. • Alternate/backup developer providing routine support regarding documentation and drafting meetings. • Manage project schedules, including risk identification and mitigation, and change management. • Prepare meeting materials and minutes; facilitate committee and subcommittee meetings; coordinate with standards development staff and Regional Entities. • Assist NERC legal in developing draft pleadings; communicate technically complex information to stakeholders via presentations and workshops. • Deliver tailored reporting on project status, risks, and milestones; write one-pagers for committee and Board actions. • Ensure development work adheres to NERC Rules of Procedure; perform other duties as assigned. 🎯 Requirements • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience. • Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the electric power industry and/or a JD licensed to practice law in at least one state with a minimum of five years’ experience in the electric power industry drafting policy, regulation, legislation, or other guidance material. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision. • Ability to manage and communicate priorities in order to meet set milestones and deadlines. • Competence in interpersonal communications with the ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and experience in the electric utility and energy policy industry. • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills. • Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Travel regularly; project management; requirements gathering; facilitation of meetings; development of legal documents; technical writing; public speaking; outside-the-box thinking; anticipatory mindset; effective consensus building; prioritization of corporate and strategic readiness in agile environments. • Desirable: Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards; Working knowledge of NERC’s standards development process; PMI certifications; Senior Developer consideration.
