Job Description: About the teamThe Terraform Authorship team is a “center of innovation” delivering foundational improvements to Terraform that advance the state of the art of Infrastructure as Code. The Authorship team is responsible for guiding efforts across teams to drive ambitious workflow improvements across the entire Terraform product line.About the roleThe majority of the libraries we maintain are written in Golang and are open source or source-available, receiving contributions from a large community of users. You will help review, fix, design, prototype, and implement features and tools while ensuring stability and usability. You will lead large customer-facing projects and interact regularly with collaborators on other teams to deliver multi-team engineering efforts. This is an opportunity to have an impact not just on the productivity and lives of developers, but on improving an industry as a whole.What you’ll do (responsibilities)Develop, advocate for, and support new and existing features in the entire Terraform product lineOwn large customer-facing projects, judiciously evaluate trade offs and remove project blockersSpend time writing about customer problems, potential solutions, and more in the form of RFCs (Requests For Comments)Engage open source contributors, promote healthy community engagement, and establish standards for effectively working in the openEmpathize with the end user and be their voice when influencing priorities and technical decisionsParticipate in cross-team working groups while developing your knowledge as a subject matter expertEnable your teammates through technical contributions, code reviews, and pairingWork with internal and external stakeholders to determine and prioritize new features and enhancements critical to the success of HashiCorp customers and the broader communityWhat you’ll need (basic qualifications)You have 15+ years of professional software engineering experienceYou have professional experience developing with GoYou have experience with command-line API and/or programming language developmentYou have experience or interest in learning Terraform and Terraform internalsYou have experience or are interested in working in a source-available development environmentYou have experience navigating daunting large and complex codebasesYou have experience leading software development projects from conception to deliveryYou enjoy working collaboratively on a fully-remote teamYou have strong written communication skills, and you understand how to use tools like code review to asynchronously unblock and level up your peers#LI-RemoteIndividual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$246,200—$289,600 USDThe base pay range for this role in California (excluding SF Bay Area), New York (excluding NYC), Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, Washington D.C., or Maryland is:$225,600—$265,400 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro), Illinois, Minnesota, or Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$205,100—$241,300 USD“HashiCorp is an IBM subsidiary which has been acquired by IBM and will be integrated into the IBM organization.
