The Frontend team is responsible for ensuring the alignment of web design and user experience requirements, optimizing for maximum efficiency, and maintaining brand consistency across all web pages, among other duties. The team works alongside back-end developers, graphic designers, and user experience designers to ensure all elements of the user interface are consistent and performant. The Senior Staff Engineer, Frontend, will be hands-on with day-to-day coding responsibilities as well as leading/growing the team. This role requires strategic leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization. Development and implementation: • Write high-quality, maintainable, and performant code for large-scale, consumer-facing applications. • Build responsive, mobile-first web applications and contribute to mobile app development initiatives. • Translate designs and business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure user interfaces and features. • Implement and maintain core frontend infrastructure and modules. Mentorship and collaboration: • Lead, mentor and coach frontend engineering team members. • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering and business teams to deliver integrated solutions. • Participate in and lead architectural design reviews and influence team standards through code reviews. Performance and quality: • Solve complex technical problems across web and mobile environments. • Diagnose and prevent performance, scalability, and reliability issues. • Advocate for improvements in product quality, security, and performance. Innovation and future-proofing: • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in frontend and mobile development. • Research and pilot new technologies to improve developer workflows and product experience, including the use of AI tools. • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration. Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer in building complex, scalable web, mobile web and database applications.  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model.  • Thorough and deep understanding of React.js and its core principles.  • Experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux).  • Familiarity with newer specifications of EcmaScript.  • Knowledge of isomorphic React is a plus,  • Extensive working experience with RESTful APIs.  • Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as the JSON Web Token.  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools. • Experience with AWS/Cloud deployments.  • Experience with the design and operation of large-scale cloud services. • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.  • Excellent problem-solving skills.   • Ability and desire to move across technology stacks fluently and easily. • A knack for benchmarking and optimization. • Experience with native and cross-platform mobile apps would be a plus. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for new hires for the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by multiple factors like job-related skills, experience, and state of residence.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the interview process.  Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include any variable compensation elements.
