Job Description: Position Purpose:We are looking for a curious, self-driven Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team at Benchmark Education. Completion of a software coding bootcamp or a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is preferred.Demonstrated expertise with Computer Science principles in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithm design and complexity analysisExpertise in at least one of the following, preferred expertise in more than one:JavaES6 JavaScriptPHP 7.xAbility to work in a collaborative agile environmentExcellent written and spoken English communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Understanding of all elements of the software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, configuration management, quality assurance, and release management.JavaScript and Web Development experience:Single page application development using ES6 JavaScriptReact framework and Redux state managementCSS, LESS, or SASSUnit testing with Jest, Enzyme, Mocha and ChaiFrameworks such as React, Redux, Backbone, or Vue JSData visualization packages such as D3Application and Service development experience:SQL and NoSQL datastores such as MySQL and MongoDBFamiliarity with basic design patterns and UMLFamiliarity with PHP 7.x, Laravel, and PHP UnitFamiliarity with Spring projects for JavaAWS technologies: RDS (Aurora), Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, RedShift, EC2, SQS, SNS, Cloudwatch, S3, or CloudfrontContainer technologies, e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Apache MesosHighly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong communication skills and work ethic; self-starter.Ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas.Experience working on unusually complicated problems and providing solutions that are highly creative and ingenious, exhibiting ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.ABOUT BENCHMARK EDUCATION COMPANYBenchmark Education Company (BEC) is a leading publisher of core, supplemental, and intervention literacy and language resources in English and Spanish, with valid and reliable digital assessments that inform instruction.
