📋 Description
• Live into our values of kindness and excellence
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to design and build the best possible chess experience using the most relevant software engineering principles
• Build and optimize backend systems, scaling for a global top 200 website
• Contribute to technology, architecture, workflow, and design decisions
• Contribute to the backend development team knowledge-base, and mentor other developers
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Frontend, and Infrastructure teams throughout product development cycle

🎯 Requirements
• Product-minded multidisciplinary engineer
• Ability to work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Frontend Developers, and Infrastructure teams
• Cut through complexity while offering simplified solutions
• Holistic understanding of the software development lifecycle
• 5+ years Python experience (multiple frameworks preferred)
• Type hinting / Static analysis tools e.g: Mypy
• Testing frameworks e.g: Pytest
• Data processing libraries eg: Pandas
• Python package managers eg: Poetry, uv
• Familiarity with ML infrastructure and ops frameworks e.g: Metaflow
• Experience with MySQL, Git & GitHub, Doctrine, Redis, Docker
• Excellent understanding of software design and architectural patterns
• Experience with SQL schema design and query optimization
• Experience with command line and Unix systems
• Experience working with a fully distributed team
• Sense of ownership and responsibility
• Chess player (preferred)
• Lifelong learner
