This role goes beyond traditional full-stack development, requiring the ability to integrate multiple Python applications and design robust back-end databases. You will be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle and play a key role in mentoring junior developers.Key Responsibilities:Develop clean, efficient, and scalable Python code for back-end applicationsDesign and implement functional requirements and modular software componentsArchitect and build high-performance, low-latency, and highly available applicationsDesign database schemas and integrate multiple component applications into a unified systemWrite well-tested, maintainable, and readable code following best practicesDebug and optimize applications to ensure reliability and performanceCollaborate closely with UX/UI designers to translate designs into functional featuresIntegrate front-end elements with server-side logicParticipate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and share knowledge across the teamLead software design reviews for junior developers, providing guidance on architecture and best practicesSupport test automation through thoughtful software designQualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role, with a proven track record in designing and implementing complex back-end systemsStrong software design skills including modular architecture and back-end database designProficient in Python and familiar with frameworks such as Flask, Django, or CherryPyExperience with front-end technologies like JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 is a plusMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferredExperience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) in fast-paced settingsContributions to open-source projects or active involvement in developer communities is a plusKnowledge of additional back-end languages like Node.js, Java, or Ruby is beneficialStrong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and asynchronous messaging (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka)Experience with relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB), including schema design and query optimizationFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is desirableThis is a hybrid role requiring to go into the Washington, DC office 3X a week.
