Alongside day-to-day delivery, you’ll guide ongoing platform modernization – retiring debt and enabling faster, safer releases – without sacrificing speed to deliver new solutions.What you’ll doLead & develop people (≈50 %)· Act as a player-coach: spend 40-50% of your time pairing, reviewing PRs, and spiking prototypes while mentoring engineers.· Set quarterly OKRs, run 1-on-1s, approve PTO/expenses, and own performance reviews.· Build a culture of trust, high accountability, and continuous growth through open feedback and strong team rituals.· Recruit, hire, and onboard engineers who thrive on ownership and collaborative problem-solving.Deliver product (≈30 %)· Partner with Product to turn business needs and user feedback into shippable features and innovative solutions.· Architect resilient, observable services, often integrating AI models and SaaS platforms.· Make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions with an eye on ROI, iteration, and market responsiveness.· Ship in small, measurable increments; maintain high quality and operational readiness through automation and process discipline.· Foster AI-powered development workflows by embedding generative-AI coding assistants, automated code-review and security analyzers, and data-driven engineering metrics into the team’s daily practice—boosting velocity, reducing defects, and freeing engineers to focus on higher-order design.Advance architecture & process (≈20 %)· Contribute to the evolution of our technology stack—modernizing legacy systems while introducing scalable, cloud-native patterns.· Champion engineering best practices in architecture, testing, CI/CD, and code quality.· Use data and analytics to inform decisions, leveraging metrics, A/B testing, and analytics to guide priorities.· Partner with Security, DevOps, and Customer Success to ensure releases are secure, compliant, and maintainable.About you· Experience: 8+ years software-engineering experience, 3+ years in a lead or manager role. Flexibility and adaptability are key to success in this role· This is a security sensitive position and requires a background check and will need to adhere to the Evisions Information Security Management System.Role-Specific Add-On: Data Engineering ManagerYou will directly lead the Data Engineering team – the team building our next-generation data-pipeline, ETL, and packaged analytics offerings.Additional focus areas· Data-pipeline leadership: Design and deliver scalable, schema-aware pipelines connecting on-prem and SaaS data to analytics layers.· Modern ETL architecture: Evaluate and implement ETL/ELT workflows with modern solutions that meet the unique needs of our customers.· Packaged analytics: Guide the team in delivering turnkey dashboards and analytical models for higher-ed customers.· Managed-service mindset: Build multi-tenant, API-driven, performant, cost-efficient solutions with SLO/SLA considerations.· Data governance & lineage: Implement cataloging, versioning, and access-control practices to meet FERPA and SOC 2 requirements.
