Be part of the future of education with us!Role Overview:The Customer Love team at Teachstone is focused on driving customer satisfaction and retention by evolving our most widely used products. These products are beloved but need refinement to meet the changing needs of our users. This team sits at the intersection of maintenance and innovation, improving usability and trust while laying the groundwork for a simpler, subscription-based future.Engineers at Teachstone help define solutions, not just build them. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and Impact to shape both the problems we tackle and how we solve them. Your work will help users complete tasks more easily, feel more satisfied, and stay engaged.This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working across the stack and brings particular strength in building clean, responsive, and maintainable front-end experiences.What You'll Do:Partner with Product and Design to explore customer problems and co-define solutionsBuild and refine features that increase usability, trust, and engagementLead or contribute to front-end improvements that reduce error rates and support successful task completionContribute to back-end changes in Rails that support front-end improvementsCollaborate across teams (Support, Ops, QA) to validate and prioritize fixes based on real customer painImprove legacy code for better performance, accessibility, and maintainabilityDesign with an eye toward platform simplification and long-term subscription enablementWrite reliable, testable, and well-documented codeUse modern tools to streamline development and reduce repetitive workWe're Looking For:3 to 5 years of experience as a full-stack or front-end-focused engineerStrong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks like ReactAbility to build clean, responsive, and accessible front-end experiencesExperience improving or modernizing legacy codebasesSolid understanding of Ruby on Rails or similar MVC frameworksGood judgment about when to fix, refactor, or rebuild, with a pragmatic, user-focused mindsetOpenness to using modern tools, including AI, to improve workflow and code qualityAbility to diagnose issues across the stack and isolate root causesExperience shaping product direction, not just executing deliveryInterest in improving real-world outcomes through continuous product improvementStrong communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional workNice to Have:Experience in Rails-based systemsFamiliarity with HEART or similar UX metricsBackground working in sustainment, support engineering, or quality-focused teamsFamiliarity with browser performance tools, accessibility standards, and usability best practicesExperience building internal tools, workflow automation, or cross-system integrationsWhy Join This Team?You’ll work on products people already love and help make them even better.You’ll contribute to meaningful outcomes in early childhood education.You’ll join a small, cross-functional team with shared ownership of both what to build and how to build it.You’ll help simplify legacy systems and build more scalable solutions.You’ll see the direct impact of your work in metrics that matter to real users.You’ll join a team that values trust, focus, and craftsmanship.What We Offer:Fair, Competitive Pay: We ensure equal pay for equal work, using consistent salary bands based on market benchmarks, reviewed annually.
