z/OS Systems Programming Expert

Boulder, CO (hybrid or remote)

12+Month Contract

Part-Time (Preferred: 3 days/week, ~24 hours/week)



Description: 

The role involves maintaining, upgrading, and supporting IBM z/OS operating systems, troubleshooting system issues, and assisting users and team members.
Responsibilities

Independently maintain, upgrade, and support z/OS operating systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues.
Perform advanced system programming tasks including RACF administration and IBM software installations.
Educate and assist team members and users on z/OS capabilities and best practices.
Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, including occasional off-hours or weekend work.
Requirements

5–7+ years of hands-on z/OS systems programming experience.
Expert knowledge of: JES2/JES3, SYS1.PARMLIB/PROCLIB, Catalogs, ISPF/SDSF, z/FS, Unix System Services, DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, DFRMM, System Logger, XCF.
RACF administration: User IDs, Groups, Certificates, Resources, KeyRings.
IBM software installation via ServerPac, z/OSMF, CBPDO.
DASD architecture, FICON/ESCON, cryptographic coprocessors, VTS.
Strong independent problem-solving, mentoring, and communication skills.
Preferred: VTAM, TCP/IP, z/VM, Linux on z (zCX), DS8000, FlashCopy, tape libraries, DFSMS ACS routine and construct management.
