Distributed Team: While we are headquartered in Knoxville, TN, we are a distributed organization. We welcome candidates from anywhere in the US to join our tight-knit team of 30+ employees. Modern Culture: We combine the stability of an incumbent with the agility of a startup—shipping code daily and valuing deep work over meetings. Tech-Forward: We are aggressively investing in a modern stack (React, TypeScript, GraphQL) and encourage AI-enhanced workflows to strip away the mundane parts of coding. Our Mission: We are bringing consumer-grade usability to the bulk materials industry. Our users manage complex, high-stakes operations, and they deserve software that is intuitive, clear, and efficient. We need a developer who cares deeply about the human on the other side of the screen, ensuring that complex workflows feel simple and understandable. Your Role: You will bridge the gap between engineering and product design, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience across our high-performance Point of Sale (POS) and data-dense financial tables. Champion the User Experience: Go beyond "making it look good." deeply understand user workflows to build interfaces that reduce friction and make complex data easy to digest. Build for Performance: Engineer React interfaces that handle complex data grids and rapid transactions without lagging—speed is a key component of usability. Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with backend engineers, product managers, and customer support to translate user feedback into concrete interface improvements. Modernize the Stack: Use React, TypeScript, and GraphQL to build clean, maintainable, and type-safe frontends. A Note on AI: Usage of AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) is actively encouraged to handle boilerplate and accelerate refactors, allowing you to focus on solving difficult UX problems. Who You Are: User-Obsessed: You prioritize clarity and flow. You aim for the intuitive polish of tools like Linear or Planetscale, not just for their look, but for how satisfying they are to use. Systems Thinker: You don't just build one-off pages; you build reusable components and patterns that create a consistent, predictable experience for the user. Empathetic Engineer: You understand that "internal tools" shouldn't feel like an afterthought. You take pride in making the customer's workday easier through thoughtful design. JIT Learner: You know that you don't know everything, and you thrive on diving deep on new concepts when the opportunity presents itself. Experience & Requirements: Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional frontend development experience (we are looking for a mid-to-senior level contributor who can hit the ground running). Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React is non-negotiable. Experience with GraphQL is preferred. Tailwind is a plus. Experience with the various Tanstack libraries (router, query, db, virtual, table) is also a plus. Portfolio: Ability to demonstrate past work involving complex UI (e.g., dashboards, data grids, or complex forms) rather than just static landing pages.
