We’re pre-seed, currently in beta for iOS, and both cofounders are building this alongside full-time jobs. We’ve built the full platform, the beta is live, and now we need engineers to help us ship faster. We’re competing with YC-backed startups. We have less money but more speed, taste, and conviction. We’re embracing an AI-agent model in every aspect of our business - in our product, in our operations, in how we build. The Role We’re looking for part-time software engineering interns to help build the technical infrastructure of Metron AI. You’ll work directly with both cofounders to ship features, build integrations, and develop our AI training agent. This isn’t a “watch and learn” internship - you’ll write real code that real athletes use. We need someone who can ship fast, is available when it matters, and views this with personal ownership. This is part-time and hybrid, but ideal candidates are based in and around New York City. What you’ll do Build features across our React Native mobile app and Node.js backend Integrate APIs from wearable platforms (WHOOP, Oura, Garmin, Apple Health) Develop and improve our AI training agent - prompt engineering, context management, response quality Build internal AI agents for research, content, operations, and customer support Help build proprietary APIs for exclusive hardware partnerships (VO2 sensors, CGMs, biosensors) Work with LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) and agent orchestration (OpenClaw, MCP) Collaborate directly with both cofounders on technical direction Who you are Comfortable with agentic AI workflows - you use Claude, Cursor, Copilot daily, not occasionally Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript with React or React Native experience Familiar with SQL, PostgreSQL, and RESTful APIs Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or agent orchestration is highly valued Self-starter who doesn’t need to be managed - you see what needs to be done and do it Available and responsive - this isn’t 9-5, when something breaks or an idea hits, you’re in the arena Curious and hungry - you fall down rabbit holes, you want to prove something, you ship daily not weekly Genuine interest in fitness, health tech, or performance (bonus if you’re an athlete yourself) What we offer Equity in Metron AI (0.05-0.15%, flexible structure to maximize skin in the game) Competitive hourly pay ($40/hr+ depending on experience) A role that grows with the company: once we’re funded and generating revenue (Q3/Q4 2026), this transforms into a full-time opportunity with top-of-market comp and equity You’ll be a core member of our team from day one, not a contractor executing someone else’s vision Real projects: proprietary APIs for exclusive wearable partnerships, AI agent development, fine-tuning infrastructure Advisors from Oura, Stanford, NBA, and a $860M Medtronic exit - doors open for you too We move fast and care more about hunger and taste than credentials. Technical skills matter, but we can teach SQL - we can’t teach fire. We need someone ready to fight and die for th is build. If you’re ambitious and want to build the future of athletic performance, reach out to ben@metron.live with your resume, a link to something you’ve built (GitHub, app, side project), and one sentence on why Metron. Bonus: show us how you use AI in your workflow. … more Set alert for similar jobs Chief Software Engineer, New York, New York, United States
