Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take ownership of our backend architecture and serve as a key technical authority for our systems. In this role, you will be a primary individual contributor, focusing on backend performance, scalability, and code quality. You will share responsibility for guiding our distributed development team, ensuring technical standards are met while working closely with product and engineering leaders across the company to deliver reliable, high-impact software. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable backend systems using Python and FastAPI Drive technical excellence across the full stack, with a primary focus on scalability and reliability Partner with engineering and product leadership to provide technical guidance and code reviews for our offshore development team Interface with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into high-quality technical solutions Maintain and improve our SDLC and Agile practices to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a mastery of Python Proven experience shipping production-ready code using FastAPI or a similar modern API framework Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including basic schema design, indexing, and query optimization Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor other developers Deep familiarity with Agile software development and the full SDLC Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with distributed teams Experience with observability and monitoring tools to ensure system health and troubleshoot production issues independently Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor other developers, and provide meaningful code reviews Preferred Qualifications Experience with NextJS and React Proven ability to effectively leverage an AI coding sidekick (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Replit Agent, or similar tools) to accelerate high-quality code delivery while maintaining strong engineering judgment and ownership of design decisions. Our benefits For individuals hired to work in Colorado, LearningSpring is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and includes the range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, etc. Colorado Pay Range: The anticipated salary range for this role is $145,000 - $175,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, and past performance. In addition to base salary, this position may also be eligible for a variable bonus and equity.
