Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Full Stack)

Location: Remote (U.S. only) - No sponsorship available
Base Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 DOE
Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Senior → Staff


About the Role

This is a hands-on senior engineering role with real ownership. You’ll lead backend architecture while contributing across the stack and helping shape a product that has meaningful real-world impact.
What You’ll Do

Design, build, and own scalable backend systems
Develop and maintain high-performance APIs
Architect and implement messaging queues and async workflows
Work extensively with Python and FastAPI
Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases
Collaborate closely with product, data, and frontend engineers
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
Contribute to frontend development when needed (React preferred)
Influence system design, reliability, and scalability decisions


Must-Have Qualifications

8–10+ years of software engineering experience
Strong backend expertise with Python
Hands-on experience with FastAPI
Solid experience with PostgreSQL
Proven background building and owning APIs
Experience designing messaging queues / async systems
Comfortable operating at a Senior or Staff level


Nice to Have

Prior full-stack experience, especially with React
Healthcare, insurance, or regulated-industry experience
Startup or scale-up environment experience
System design and architecture leadership experience
