This is a full-stack role with a deep focus on applied AI and LLM-driven automation. You will collaborate with our product team on the design and implementation of new features in our existing products, leveraging AI to advance the standard of care for our members. We expect AI to become a tool leveraged by all Thyme Care engineers. You will play an important role in this, using your expertise to level up your teammates, establishing best practices for AI-driven development in a regulated environment, and coaching others on when AI is not the best tool for the job. As AI becomes a core part of our development process, you should expect to join a product team, working on both AI- on non-AI features in the advancement of Thyme Care’s mission – still serving as a domain expert in the area of applied AI and LLMs when needed. In your first six months, you will: Design, develop, and optimize AI-enabled features for internal- and external-facing products, with a focus on reliability, safety, and transparency. Build out an intuitive, scalable, and secure-by-default AI architecture using Amazon Bedrock to enable engineers across the company to independently incorporate AI-enabled features into their products, following industry and company best practices. Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams, including oncology experts, product managers, our vCISO, and other engineers — translating fast-evolving care challenges into AI-driven solutions. Develop a deep understanding of business and user needs — from our care model at the highest level, to the nuanced decisions made by our care team on a daily basis. Leverage a number of data sources, including structured EHR data, user annotations, and streaming data from real-time communications — ensuring agents provide up-to-date, context-rich support to our clinical users. Contribute to a high-trust, collaborative engineering culture, mentoring others and helping shape the future of AI-powered oncology care. WHAT YOU’VE DONE You’ve worked in fast-paced, early stage environments. You’re comfortable iterating quickly to ship MVPs, and know how to make data-driven decisions. You’ve collaborated closely with a Product team, helping to shape early ideas. You’ve taken projects from a loosely scoped idea to a fully realized feature. You have strong experience with web development. You’ve built single-page applications in stacks similar to ours: Vue.js/TypeScript, FastAPI/Python, and Postgres. You’ve developed and deployed machine learning or LLM-powered features in production, and you apply strong software engineering fundamentals to ensure their reliability, safety, and maintainability. You have comfort using an observability stack to monitor features once they hit production, troubleshooting any issues that arise. (We use Datadog.) You have experience working in regulated environments. WHAT LEADS TO SUCCESS AI-native development. You are comfortable building and launching intelligent agents or LLM-integrated products from the ground up. You’re comfortable deploying AI services in cloud environments, and you understand key concepts like vector stores, embeddings, RAG, and model fine-tuning. Pragmatic approach to AI . You are driven by problems, not solutions. You prioritize solving the most important problems in the simplest way possible. You know when to reach for LLMs as a solution, and when to prefer simpler, programmatic approaches. Curiosity. You have a natural drive to understand how things work—whether it's AI internals, care team workflows, or data pipelines—and you enjoy sharing that knowledge. You thrive in a learning-centric culture.  (Find out more about our engineering team culture here!) Self-directed learning. You’re comfortable independently keeping up with the fast-changing ecosystem of foundation models and AI tooling and sharing new, relevant ideas and best practices with the team. Commitment to inclusivity. You care deeply about building an inclusive culture at Thyme Care. You recognize a history of inequity in tech and believe that we must build a team that reflects the diversity of the population we serve. People-first. You anchor your work in Thyme Care’s mission and the humans behind it—patients, caregivers, and your teammates. You design and build AI tools that amplify human judgment and compassion, not replace it. OUR VALUES At Thyme Care, our core values guide us in everything we do: Act with our members in mind, Move with purpose, and Seek diverse perspectives. They anchor our business decisions, including how we grow, the products we make, and the paths we choose—or don’t choose.
