Job Description: RESPONSIBILITIES

Interface & WordPress Development:
Develop, maintain, and optimize responsive front-end applications for Bionews’ digital platforms, with a focus on WordPress-based sites.
Translate UI/UX design wireframes and mockups into clean, scalable code using HTML, CSS, PHP (Timber /Twig), JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
Provide feedback on design feasibility and suggest improvements to enhance usability and user engagement.
WordPress Customization & Integration:
Customize and enhance WordPress themes and plugins to align with our brand and user experience goals.
Collaborate with the team to integrate dynamic content, third-party APIs, and interactive features within the WordPress ecosystem.
Performance & Accessibility:
Ensure cross-browser compatibility, fast load times, and adherence to accessibility standards across all platforms.
Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability.
Collaboration & Best Practices:
Engage in code reviews, agile development processes, and continuous integration initiatives.
Stay updated on emerging front-end and WordPress technologies, applying best practices to improve our digital experiences.
 

ABOUT YOU

Extensive experience in front-end development, with a strong portfolio showcasing responsive and user-friendly web applications.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP (Timber /Twig) and JavaScript, as well as modern front-end frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue).
Solid experience with WordPress development, including theme customization, plugin development, and integration of advanced custom fields.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel).
A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating exceptional digital experiences.
Experience working directly on UI/UX design or close collaboration with design teams. Comfort with prototyping and design tools (like Figma or Adobe Illustrator / XD) is a plus.
 

REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Proven track record of delivering high-quality, production-grade web applications in fast-paced environments.
Experience in digital health, media, or related industries is a plus.
A keen eye for design and a commitment to staying at the forefront of front-end and WordPress technology trends.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & TOOLS EXPERIENCE

While not required, candidates who bring the following experience or interests will be strongly preferred:

Advanced React Expertise: Deep knowledge of the React ecosystem, including:

Routing: React Router

State Management: Modern libraries such as Zustand, MobX or Redux

Performance: React Context API, advanced memoization, and other optimization techniques

Modern Styling Solutions: Proficiency in creating scalable and maintainable styles using SCSS, Tailwind CSS, and component libraries like Material UI.

Data Fetching & Caching: Experience with libraries like Axios and TanStack Query for efficient data management.

Build & Test Automation: Familiarity with modern build tools like Vite or Webpack and a commitment to testing using libraries such as Vitest, Jest, or React Testing Library.

Design Acumen: A sharp eye for visual design and a solid understanding of UI/UX best practices to ensure the delivery of intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interfaces.
