About Avenda Health: We are building a world where no patient has to die of cancer. Our FDA-cleared flagship product, Unfold AI, reveals the invisible cancer that doctors miss, enabling oncologists to achieve better treatment outcomes while preserving patients’ quality of life. Unfold AI is a multi-modal AI platform that combines a patient’s diagnostic data together (from EHR, PACS, and other healthcare systems) to create an interactive 3D map of the patient’s cancer, enabling more precise and personalized treatment. These maps have been validated in recent clinical studies to significantly improve patient care and cancer treatment outcomes. Unfold AI represents a generational leap in cancer treatment, but we need your help to bring it to everyone. Specifically, we need your help to perfect our integration with Epic and other clinical systems to deliver a seamless user experience. Are you up for the challenge to shape the future of cancer care? What you will do: Perfect Epic Integration – Own the layer connecting our cloud-based AI to Epic EHR systems. You will build applications using Epic's integration frameworks (Epic Interconnect, App Orchard, Web Services, FHIR APIs), HL7 interfaces, and DICOM workflows to ensure the necessary patient data gets into our application with "zero clicks required". Bring Doctors and Patients Joy – Our customers love our cancer map AI, but no one loves redundant data entry. Deeply understand our customers' workflow and pain points to ensure we solve the right problems and keep them delighted. Organize the Chaos – Work with our platform engineers to ensure disparate and disorganized clinical data is automatically parsed and organized according to internal standards. Work with our 3rd party technology partners to ensure robust data flows in and out of Unfold AI. Lead the Way – This role will be on a newly created team with many green-field opportunities. What you will bring: Experience: 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Healthcare IT Integration, or equivalent. You have designed, implemented, and maintained a production application that integrated with Epic. You understand Epic's integration architecture, data models, and best practices for third-party application integration. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Skills: Epic Expertise – You have hands-on experience integrating applications with Epic. You understand Epic's data model, common workflows (ADT, orders, results), and integration patterns. Familiarity with Epic Chronicles database structure and Epic-specific HL7 segments is a plus. Healthcare IT – You are proficient in healthcare IT standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM) and can work through Epic-specific nuances (Epic Web Services, CDA documents, PDF report parsing from Epic, etc). You are an expert in networking and system design. Strong Programmer – You can comfortably write a production application for an on-prem system or the cloud. Building and maintaining integration middleware applications is a key expectation of this role. We use Go, Python, and JS. Our cloud platform is built on AWS. Automated deployment and configuration tools (e.g., Gitlab Pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc). Technical Writing – You can write detailed specifications and clear technical documentation. Professional Communication – You know how to communicate exactly what you need from hospital IT teams and Epic analysts to get integrations built and deployed. Experience in medical device development or a regulated field is preferred. Mindset: Perpetual student – You want to learn all there is to know and then some. Servant Leader – You lead by lifting others up around you. Strategically Lazy – You know what to focus on and you automate the rest. What we offer in return: Full benefits package including health, vision, and dental. Every other Friday off in addition to 15 days PTO + holidays. Weekly summaries of the exact number of cancer patients that your work has helped. Avenda Health is an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, age, status as a protected veteran, among other things, or status as a qualified individual with a disability.
