This role involves managing, planning, building, and optimizing end-to-end data pipelines, as well as partnering with other analytics teams to deliver production-ready analytics solutions for data consumers across the enterprise. The Senior Data Engineer ensures compliance with data governance and security requirements while developing reusable and integrated pipelines that improve data accessibility, integration, and time-to-solution. The role requires collaboration across Information Services (IS) and institutional leadership, promoting effective data management practices and a culture of data-driven decision making. Key Responsibilities: Data Engineering – End-to-End Solution Delivery Plan, design, and build end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, curation, and delivery to analytics consumers. Integrate data governance processes to track data provenance, security, quality, and ontology. Standardize, cleanse, harmonize, and validate data for reuse across multiple initiatives. Explore and implement modern tools and automation to reduce manual, error-prone tasks. Standards, Testing & System Maintenance Maintain compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and change control processes. Review, test, and ensure quality of technical solutions built by team members. Assist in system updates, new releases, and after-hours support as needed. Document technical solutions and participate in quality audits. Education & Training Coach and mentor colleagues in data engineering practices, including data pipelining and preparation techniques. Develop training materials and provide institutional and one-on-one instruction on analytics tools and pipelines. Transfer knowledge and provide guidance to less-experienced team members. Organizational Contribution Foster collaboration, trust, and partnership with internal teams and stakeholders. Model commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in IT solutions and services. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Health Informatics, or related field. At least one Epic Data Model certification (Clinical, Access, or Revenue). Five years of relevant healthcare IT experience; with a preferred master’s degree, three years of experience is acceptable. Experience conducting data ingestion, curation, pipeline building, and solution delivery. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field. Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Palantir Foundry, Epic Caboodle, PySpark, SQL, and Stored Procedures. Familiarity with healthcare data systems and analytics frameworks. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support institutional IT initiatives.
