The work involves taking massive amounts of messy, third-party data and turning it into something accurate and defensible. The business is profitable and we are a small, senior team mostly based in Maine. We work a 4-day work week with a supportive environment of a happy team. This is a fully remote role, but we value the fact that we’re all in the same corner of the country. The Work This is a hands-on role for a senior engineer. We have a functional core system in place that is already delivering value to customers. Your job is to help us evolve that foundation into a world-class data platform by working directly with the company President to design and build our core pipelines. The focus is on accuracy and performance. Our customers use our data to guide enterprise strategy, so "good enough" results don't work here. We use a modern cloud stack and are currently leaning into DuckDB for its performance and flexibility. What you will do Build and maintain production pipelines for complex, externally sourced datasets. Design the data models that power our analytics and customer insights. Improve the reliability and scale of our existing systems. Participate in technical debates. We want you to challenge assumptions and push for better architectural decisions. Ensure our data is explainable. If a customer asks how we got a number, you should be able to prove it. Who we are looking for You have significant experience building production data systems. You are an expert in SQL and Python. You care about data modeling and the logic behind the numbers, not just moving bits around. You prefer a "technically serious" environment where you have actual ownership over your work. Why join us 4-Day Work Week: We work Monday through Thursday. We believe a focused, four-day week is more productive and sustainable. Maine-Based Team: We are a remote team, but we are all local to Maine. Real Ownership: You won't just be taking tickets. You will be shaping the core architecture of the company.
