Senior Backend Engineer



Remote (US - EST/CST Preferred) | $150,000 – $190,000 Salary (+ Bonus)



The Opportunity

Rogue Talent is hiring two Senior Backend Engineers to own and scale mission-critical systems powering a high-growth aviation logistics platform. Very API-heavy, with an initial focus on the platform's payment/banking function; excellent for someone with FinTech experience. 



This is a "practical architect" role: Ideal for seasoned devs who can navigate the ambiguity of a scaling startup while maintaining the professional rigor required for real-world ops where reliability is key. Also a great opportunity to mentor junior devs. 



Core Responsibilities

Engineering & Ownership: Design and deploy scalable services using Node.js and Express. You aren’t just writing code; you’re owning the features end-to-end. 
Data Strategy: Architect and optimize PostgreSQL schemas to manage complex, real-time workflows involving pricing, payments, and global logistics.
Infrastructure Mgt: Take full ownership of AWS infrastructure and DevOps tooling. You will be responsible for system observability, including logging, monitoring, and performance instrumentation.
Velocity & Innovation: Proactively leverage AI development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate delivery without sacrificing code quality or security.
Cross-Functional Collab: Partner with frontend, product, and ops teams to translate complex "offline" industry workflows into elegant, automated software solutions.


Qualifications

Depth: 8+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record of owning features end-to-end, and building API-heavy apps.
Technical Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Node, Express and PostgreSQL, with deep experience in query optimization and schema design.
Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience scaling AWS services in high-stakes environments.
Foundational Skills: Familiarity with Prisma (or other ORMs), automated testing, and secure system design.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. US-based (EST or CST).
