You'll focus on business logic, marketplace health, and the foundations that help teams ship quickly and safely. This is a US time zone–aligned remote role. You'll collaborate closely with teammates across the EU (including Spain) and help strengthen our on-call coverage across time zones. Responsibilities Build and evolve product-focused platform services and business logic that improve marketplace health, reliability, and customer outcomes. Own backend features end-to-end—from scoping and implementation through rollout and iteration—shipping quickly while keeping quality and sustainability high. Design, run, and analyze experiments that meaningfully move metrics (e.g., smarter, geo-based "system cancel" timing to reduce unclaimed jobs and improve retention). Improve data flows and operational robustness across systems and integrations, identifying and fixing sync gaps before they impact revenue or customer experience. Lead sensitive technical initiatives that reduce risk, including migrating and cleaning up legacy systems to minimize unnecessary PII storage and strengthen data hygiene. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Analytics in a fast-moving environment where engineering and design are moving quickly and quality needs to keep up. Contribute to team health through clear communication, pragmatic tradeoffs, and reliable execution—especially across time zones in a distributed team. Participate in an on-call rotation with US time zone coverage, helping maintain dependable support as schedules split between EU and US. Required Skills Strong backend engineering experience delivering customer-impacting product work (business logic, workflows, and marketplace systems) in a fast-moving environment. A product-minded approach to the platform. Solid fundamentals in system design and API development, with an eye for edge cases, performance, and operational health. Experience running safe changes in production, including debugging, monitoring, and participating in an on-call rotation. Comfort working with data-sensitive systems and migrations, with an appreciation for reducing risk around customer/cleaner data and removing unnecessary PII. Ability to design and run experiments or iterative improvements (e.g., rolling out logic changes by region), measuring impact and refining based on results. Clear, proactive communication in a distributed team, with enough schedule flexibility to collaborate across time zones when needed.
