As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will partner with experienced Tech Leads to architect scalable infrastructure solutions that power Axiom’s embedded prediction markets on high-traffic sites like Forbes.

This is a high-autonomy position in a fast-paced, fully remote Engineering team. You’ll leverage your generalist background to own critical backend systems while specializing in either Data Engineering or DevSecOps to support high-growth products.

Key Responsibilities

Core Backend Architecture: Design and build robust backend systems using TypeScript/Node.js and Python, ensuring production-level reliability across SQL and NoSQL databases.

Specialized Engineering: Depending on your expertise, you will either architect high-availability batch/streaming data pipelines (Data Engineering) or design secure, scalable cloud infrastructure via IaC (DevSecOps/SRE).

Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and manage complex environments on major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure), utilizing Docker for containerization to ensure seamless scalability.

Operational Excellence: Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting systems to maintain high uptime and rapid deployment cycles.

End-to-End Ownership: Take full responsibility for projects from conception to production, demonstrating the ability to drive results independently in a fully remote environment.

Strategic Innovation: Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure efficiency, such as implementing MLOps pipelines or integrating event streaming technologies like Apache Kafka.

Requirements

Experience: 3-8+ years in a Backend, Data, DevOps, or SRE role with proven high autonomy.

Technical Stack: Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js and Python; extensive experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; and production-level knowledge of Docker and SQL/NoSQL.

Preferred Capabilities: Experience with Apache Kafka (Confluent Cloud), deep expertise in IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi), Kubernetes (K8s), or building infrastructure for MLOps/AI Evals.
