This role is ideal for a backend engineer who lives and breathes pure Python and is comfortable owning backend systems end-to-end in a modern, serverless AWS environment. What You’ll Be Doing Design, build, and refactor serverless backend services using pure Python Develop and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs Work heavily with AWS services including Lambda, RDS, and DynamoDB Write and optimize SQL for production data workflows Build and support ETL pipelines and backend integrations Collaborate closely with product, design, and frontend/mobile teams Translate high-level requirements into scalable technical solutions Participate in daily standups and ship code frequently Required Skill Set 5–7+ years of backend engineering experience Expert-level Python (pure Python — no heavy frameworks like Flask or Django) Strong AWS experience, especially Lambda-based architectures Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases Hands-on experience with GraphQL (building or maintaining schemas and APIs) Experience owning backend services in production environments Comfortable working autonomously in a remote team Nice to Have Experience with high-traffic consumer applications Background in startup, agency, or product-led environments Experience with backend refactoring or platform modernization efforts Role Details Contract length: 4–6 months (extension possible) Hours: 40 hours per week Location: Fully remote (must support PST hours) Equipment: Contractor-provided
