Overview We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with added Machine Learning experience who has already proven they can thrive in a fast‑moving startup environment. This is a hands‑on, builder role for someone who loves being on the keyboard, owning systems end‑to‑end, and turning ideas into production software quickly. This is an IC / principal‑level role, not a people‑manager‑first position. You’ll design, build, and scale backend systems that power our automation and ML‑driven products in production. You’ll own services end‑to‑end — from architecture and implementation to deployment and operation. You’ll build, update, maintain, and improve upon automation services and machine learning pipelines, while working directly with product and leadership to ship quickly and pragmatically. You’ll make real architectural decisions and operate comfortably in short feedback loops with high accountability. What We’re Looking For This role requires 7+ years of software engineering experience, with direct experience working in fast, lean startup environments. You must have strong, hands‑on backend experience with Python as your primary language, along with real production experience building or integrating machine learning systems. Experience with TypeScript is important, as is a strong understanding of relational databases, cloud‑native systems (AWS), and owning infrastructure alongside application code. This role is not a fit for engineers who prefer heavy process, long planning cycles, narrow ownership, or large support teams. It is a fit for builders who want autonomy, responsibility, and impact. Bonus experience includes LLM‑powered systems, AI agents, event‑driven or distributed architectures, CI/CD and infrastructure from scratch, and mentoring other engineers through example.
