Senior AI Backend Developer - Austin, Remote



We are working exclusively with an award-winning & fast growing start-up making waves with their innovative, first of it’s kind technology product suite tackling data and analytics like no one has done before. Their technology empowers enterprises and individuals to tackle real world challenges using imagery and analytics - whether assessing construction integrity, optimizing yields or monitoring endangered species.


They are searching for a Senior Backend Developer to join their growing AI/Advanced Engineering team. You’ll build and run backend systems powering their AI and analytics products - robust APIs, scalable data pipelines, and carefully applied LLM/RAG features -grounded in strong engineering fundamentals.


Requirements



Strong backend engineering experience in Python, building and operating production services
Experience designing RESTful APIs and relational data models (PostgreSQL)
Strong engineering fundamentals with a focus on reliability and operational excellence
Experience owning data-intensive workflows, ideally geospatial or temporal
End-to-end ownership across design, delivery, CI/CD, and production support
Experience with cloud environments (AWS or GCP) and SaaS systems
Interest in applying LLMs/RAG in production (hands-on experience a plus)


Nice to have



Geospatial tooling experience (PostGIS, GDAL/rasterio, GeoJSON, STAC)
Production experience with LLMs, vector search, or MLOps


💰 Package: $180,000-$230,000 DOE + Equity options, 20 days PTO, Remote first, Private medical & dental and much more

🧩 Interview process: 2 stages, 5 day turn around.


They are based in Austin with their engineering team based remotely through-out the US and Europe. They operate a remote model and hybrid model, whatever you prefer - with countless levels of flexibility, as many being working parents - flexibility through out the day is actively encouraged 🙌.
