Overview:

Atlas Reality is a profitable seven-year-old startup behind Atlas Earth, a location-based mobile game played by users around the world.



We’re looking for a Senior .NET Backend (API) Developer to help them scale and modernize the backend services that power our platform.



Their backend currently runs on a distributed architecture using C#, .NET, Orleans, SQL Server, and Azure. You’ll work closely with a small senior engineering team to improve API performance, optimize our data layer, and evolve the services that support millions of in-game interactions.

This is a backend-focused role where you’ll have real ownership over API design, database performance, and system architecture.



Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using C# and .NET Core
Build and maintain RESTful APIs that support both mobile and web clients
Work within a distributed services architecture (Orleans-based) to improve reliability and scalability
Design and optimize SQL Server / Azure SQL queries, indexes, and database structures
Use Dapper for high-performance data access
Implement and maintain caching strategies including Redis, distributed caching, and in-memory caching
Support load testing, performance tuning, and backend stability
Collaborate with frontend and game engineers who consume backend APIs


Must Haves:

6+ years professional software engineering experience
Strong experience building backend systems with C# / .NET Core
Deep understanding of REST API design
Strong SQL Server experience including query optimization and indexing
Experience with Dapper or similar lightweight ORM
Understanding of distributed systems and microservices
Experience with caching strategies (Redis, distributed caching, etc.)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to reason about system tradeoffs


Nice to Haves:

Experience with Azure infrastructure
Familiarity with Orleans distributed framework
Experience with CosmosDB or other NoSQL databases
Experience supporting high-scale consumer platforms
