Role Description We’re looking for a React Native Platform Engineer to help define the next generation of mobile application architecture. This role sits at the intersection of open source, platform engineering, and developer experience, with a strong focus on Module Federation for mobile, AI-powered tooling, and scalable React Native infrastructure. You’ll work on high-impact open source projects, collaborate directly with customers and the community, and represent the company at conferences, meetups, and industry events. This is not a product-only role — it’s a role for someone who enjoys shaping ecosystems, APIs, and developer workflows used by thousands of engineers. What You’ll Work On Designing and building platform-level capabilities for React Native Advancing Module Federation for mobile (architecture, runtime integration, tooling, DX) Building AI-assisted workflows for React Native (code generation, dependency insights, performance analysis, DX automation, etc.) Developing and maintaining open source libraries, CLIs, and tooling Improving build systems, bundling strategies, release pipelines, and runtime performance Working closely with customers to: Understand real-world architectural challenges Help guide adoption of platform capabilities Incorporate feedback directly into OSS and platform design Collaborating with web, backend, and infra engineers on cross-platform architecture Writing clear technical documentation, examples, and reference implementations Speaking at conferences, meetups, podcasts, and community events Acting as a technical ambassador for the React Native ecosystem What We’re Looking ForCore Technical Experience Strong experience with React Native in production Deep understanding of JavaScript / TypeScript Experience with mobile build systems (Metro, Gradle, Xcode, CI pipelines) Familiarity with microfrontend or modular architectures (Module Federation experience is a big plus) Experience building platforms, frameworks, or shared infrastructure, not just apps Understanding of performance, bundling, dependency graphs, and runtime behavior Open Source & Community Proven open source contributions (libraries, frameworks, tooling, RFCs, or major PRs) Experience maintaining or contributing to OSS projects used by others Comfortable working in public: GitHub issues, discussions, RFCs, roadmap debates Strong written communication skills (docs, READMEs, proposals) Customer & Ecosystem Experience Experience working directly with customers or external engineering teams Ability to translate customer pain into platform abstractions Comfortable presenting technical concepts to varied audiences Experience speaking at or participating in conferences, meetups, or workshops Nice to Have Experience with Module Federation (web or mobile) Experience building developer tooling or CLIs Exposure to AI/ML workflows in developer tooling or app development Experience with Nx, Turborepo, Bazel, or monorepos Background in DevEx, DX, or platform teams Prior work on widely adopted OSS projects Why This Role Is Different You’ll work on open source as a first-class responsibility You’ll help define how large-scale React Native apps are built You’ll influence both mobile and web ecosystems You’ll engage directly with the developer community, not just internal teams You’ll help push AI-native workflows into mobile platform engineering How We Work Remote-first, async-friendly High trust, high ownership Strong bias toward clear APIs, great DX, and long-term maintainability We value people who teach, share, and elevate the ecosystem
