As we expand our product suite, we are looking for a hands-on technical leader to architect and build our core platform from the ground up. Summary: We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Software Architect with deep expertise in TypeScript and modern backend engineering. This individual will define the technical vision, design system architecture, build foundational services, and eventually guide and mentor a growing engineering team. You will work closely with product, design, and leadership to translate business needs into scalable, high-performing solutions. This is an opportunity to shape the technical DNA of a company at an early stage, influence engineering culture, and deliver products that directly impact patient outcomes. Essential Functions: Architect and build the core telehealth platform, including backend services, APIs, data models, and integrations. Design scalable, secure, and modular system architectures aligned with industry best practices. Serve as the technical expert for TypeScript-based development across the engineering organization. Develop high-quality REST APIs and entitlement frameworks to support multi-role user access, compliance, and security controls. Lead end-to-end design and implementation of relational database with a strong focus on performance and reliability. Partner with product and business leaders to translate requirements into clear technical designs and roadmaps. Introduce modern development tools, frameworks, and engineering practices to accelerate productivity and quality. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; eventually lead, hire, and grow a software engineering team. Own architectural documentation, technical standards, code reviews, and long-term system scalability planning. Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities to incorporate them into the platform. Qualifications: Required 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing large-scale platforms or distributed systems. Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript as a primary development language. Strong experience building and consuming REST APIs, entitlement models, and service-oriented architectures. Deep understanding of relational databases and data modeling best practices. Proven ability to architect complex systems and write clean, maintainable, well-tested code. Demonstrated technical leadership: guiding teams, setting standards, and influencing architectural direction. Experience in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps tooling. Passion for innovation and continuous learning with a drive to explore modern frameworks, languages, and tools. Preferred Experience in telehealth, healthcare, or other regulated industries. Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant architectures and secure data handling practices. Background in building consumer-facing digital products with high emphasis on usability and performance. Experience with event-driven architectures, microservices, or domain-driven design. Prior involvement in fast-paced startup environments. Compensation depends on experience but is typically $150K-$200k annually.
