Lead Software Engineer (Java / Angular) - Contract to Hire - 100% Remote

Optomi, in partnership with a national leader in food supply and distribution, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help drive the development of a next-generation routing and fulfillment platform. This individual will guide a team of 8–10 developers and work closely with architects, contractors, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, and Angular. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving complex business problems, leading from a technical perspective, and mentoring junior engineers while remaining hands-on with the code.

Collaborating with a cross-functional team to modernize logistics and routing technology
Providing mentorship and technical guidance while staying hands-on in the codebase

Technical Environment: Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Angular, TypeScript, Ionic, AWS, MongoDB, Oracle, MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Jira, WebLogic, Tomcat


Experience of the Right Candidate:

Strong experience in backend development using Java and Spring Boot
Exposure to frontend technologies such as Angular and TypeScript
Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka
Experience with AWS and microservice-based architecture
Experience leading development teams or mentoring junior developers
Familiarity with supply chain systems, routing, or transportation technologies such as Blue Yonder WMS is a strong plus
