We operate in a highly regulated environment requiring HIPAA and CJIS compliance, handling some of the most sensitive data in the public sector. Our platform serves victim advocates who depend on secure, reliable, and intuitive tools to do their critical work. 



Role Description

We are looking for a senior or principal-level Lead Developer to take ownership of day-to-day development across our full stack. You will join an existing development team, reporting to the CTO on architecture decisions and collaborating directly with the Founder/CEO on product direction. 



This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role. You will be responsible for building and delivering features across our three codebases—a Laravel API, a React web client, and a React Native mobile app—in collaboration with the existing development team, all running on AWS in a compliance-first environment. 



Must-Have 

US citizenship and clean background check (required for CJIS compliance) 
5+ years of professional development experience (senior or principal level) 
Deep expertise in Laravel, including Eloquent, queues, events, policies, and API resources 
Production experience with multi-tenant Laravel architectures 
Comfortable with multi-database strategies: separate landlord, tenant, and audit databases 
Understanding of tenant-aware migrations, seeding, and data isolation 
Strong React and TypeScript skills, including modern patterns (hooks, context, suspense) 
React Native / Expo experience with published apps on iOS and Android 
AWS experience: serverless compute, S3, queues, and managed database services 
Experience with serverless deployment (Laravel Vapor or similar) 
Strong testing discipline: unit, feature, and integration testing 
Familiarity with encryption at rest, audit logging, and security-first development 
Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight, driving projects from concept to production 
Excellent communication skills—able to discuss architecture with a CTO and product direction with a CEO 
Comfort with AI-assisted development workflows and agentic coding tools 


Nice-to-Have 

Experience in HIPAA and/or CJIS compliant environments 
Experience with field-level encryption and blind indexes for searchable encrypted data 
Experience with real-time WebSocket architectures 
Knowledge of static analysis and automated code formatting tools 
Background in victim services, criminal justice, healthcare, or other regulated/sensitive domains 
Experience with EAS Build and mobile app distribution pipelines 
Experience building rich text editors or visual workflow tools 
Experience with internationalization/localization for multilingual applications 
Experience with large-scale data imports and migrations from competing platforms 
DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and deployment automation 
MFA implementation experience
