About the Project
We’re an early-stage, mission-driven team using AI to make video content accessible. Our stack centers on Python services running on Google Cloud (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL, Cloud Storage) with a lightweight React front end. We need a sharp full-stack engineer to own maintenance, ship new features, and keep DevOps smooth as we scale quickly.


What You’ll Do
Maintain & enhance existing endpoints, flows and UI.
Design & build new features end-to-end from database schema to front-end hooks.
Own CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, container builds, and blue-green deploys.
Monitor & optimize GCP infrastructure for cost, reliability, and security (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Build).
Write clear docs & tests so anyone can pick up where you leave off.


Must-Have Skills
2+ years building production systems with Python and JS/React.
Experience deploying to Google Cloud (Cloud Run, GKE, or App Engine).
Solid grasp of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) and data modeling. We're currently using Supabase.
Comfort setting up & maintaining CI/CD in GitHub Actions, or similar.
Clear, proactive written communication in an async startup environment.


Nice-to-Haves
Hands-on with FFmpeg, media streaming, or accessibility tooling (captions, audio description).
Exposure to AI/ML inference pipelines (OpenAI, Gemini, Whisper, Vision APIs, or custom model deployment.)
Familiarity with Tailwind, Next.js App Router, or SSR/Edge functions.
Knowledge of WCAG, SOC 2, or other compliance/security best practices.


Engagement Details
Duration: Initial 1-month contract, with option to extend.
Hours: ~15–20 hrs/week;
Compensation: Competitive hourly
Location: US/Canada timezones only
