Founder-level impact + meaningful early equity. We’re building ProNexus: the all-in-one platform for sourcing human intelligence with AI. Consulting and research teams rely on human experts for primary research—finding them, vetting them, scheduling them, capturing insights, and turning those insights into reusable knowledge. Today that work is fragmented across inboxes, spreadsheets, CRMs, and manual workflows. ProNexus brings it together: AI-powered sourcing + outreach workflows + expert/CRM management + project execution + an “org memory layer” where insights compound over time instead of getting lost in decks and docs. Right now it’s just two founders. We’re looking for a Founding Engineer who wants to build from first principles, ship fast, and help define the product + engineering foundation from day one. This is for someone who wants a hacker-house vibe, thrives in high ownership environments, and is excited about working 5-6 days/week in a very early startup. This role is for you if… You believe you’re in the top ~1% of builders you’ve worked with—and you want an environment that matches your pace. You ship fast, take ownership like a founder, and don’t need permission to solve problems. You want outsized equity + responsibility because you’re confident you can produce outsized output. Why this role Extremely early: you’ll be the first engineering hire / 3rd person Founder-level ownership: architecture + product decisions + what we build next Meaningful equity: more equity than anyone joining later Fast pace: tight feedback loops, direct customer input, shipping constantly High-growth environment: you’ll be pushed, challenged, and surrounded by people who care about getting better every week Location We expect a strong NYC in-person component. If you’re open to moving to NYC (or spending significant time here), that’s a big plus (exceptions will be granted for 10x - 100x engineers / exceptional people). What you’ll do You’ll operate as a true generalist founding engineer. You’ll own big, ambiguous problems end-to-end—product, backend, frontend, and AI workflows. Build core product features across the stack (UI → API → DB) Build AI-assisted workflows for human intelligence: sourcing support, enrichment, summarization, extraction, classification, routing Work directly with users: turn real pain into product, ship iteratively, measure impact Our current tech stack React / Next.js TypeScript Tailwind (or equivalent) Python (FastAPI) Supabase (Postgres) Vercel Render / AWS AI: LLMs + agent workflows Who you are You’re a builder who loves shipping and learning fast. Are a strong full-stack engineer (or backend-heavy / AI) Think in first principles and turn ambiguity into execution Low ego Have high ownership and don’t need hand-holding Value speed + iteration and know when to go deep on quality Enjoy building with AI and can separate hype from what works (we consistently reevaluate our AI tooling on a monthly basis) Want to work hard (5–6 days/week) with a tight founding team Traction / momentum 5 consulting/research firms currently in pilot Successful pilot + passed compliance + security review with a Big 4 consulting firm and in the process of onboarding Backed by advisors and angel investors with deep domain expertise (ex-BCG, ex-EY Partners) What success looks like (first 30–90 days) You've taken ownership of full feature development You’ve shipped multiple meaningful improvements to the product You’ve improved engineering velocity You’re operating like a founder: prioritizing, proposing, executing What failure looks like (first 30–90 days) You need a lot of direction to make progress, or you wait for tasks instead of creating momentum. You prefer a structured roadmap and well-defined tickets vs. a messy, fast-moving early-stage environment. You optimize for perfect plans over shipping. You avoid ambiguity and ownership (“that’s not my area”) instead of saying “I’ll figure it out. You struggle with intensity/pace (5–6 days/week) or don’t enjoy a tight feedback loop. You bring ego or defensiveness—can’t take direct feedback, don’t communicate clearly, or don’t default to teamwork. Compensation Equity: above-market for a founding engineer role (we're only offering this level of equity to one person - our first engineering hire). Near-term: We’re currently finishing a fundraising round, so this role can start part-time while we close it out. Post-round: once the round closes (we are 50%+ committed), we plan to convert this role to full-time with a market-competitive salary (target $100k–$150k) + continued equity. *We have very high ambitions, and that requires an unusually strong team. We’re only hiring people we believe are truly top-tier. To set expectations clearly (and avoid wasting anyone’s time): This is a high-ownership role with a high bar. We give direct feedback early and often. If performance isn’t there, we won’t drag it out. Please don’t apply if you’re looking for a slow ramp or a low-intensity environment. Only apply if you're confident you can consistently ship at a high level and want to push yourself harder than you ever have before.
