We're starting with one of the most pressing problems in education right now: cell phone policy. We're solving it with software that's actually delightful to use. We have a mobile app in production and we're looking for a senior mobile engineer to take it to the next level. The work here is about reliability, precision, and making what's otherwise an otherwise mundane experience delightful from start to finish. What you'll do You'll work directly with the founders to harden and evolve the student-facing mobile app that sits at the core of how Doorman works in schools every day. Own and advance the student-facing mobile app in Flutter Build robust push notification and background service infrastructure that works consistently across iOS and Android Make architecture decisions that account for real-world constraints like battery optimization, Doze mode, and OS-level restrictions Collaborate closely with the full stack engineers on APIs and shared infrastructure Raise the bar of the mobile codebase and keep it there Who you are 4+ years of mobile engineering experience with strong Flutter fundamentals Deep understanding of push notification delivery, background services, and platform-level constraints on both iOS and Android You've debugged hard mobile problems before and know what it takes to make an app genuinely dependable in production Comfortable making architectural decisions independently and owning the outcomes Familiar with the demands of an early-stage startup environment Why Doorman A humble, but production codebase for you to meangingfully contribute to Full ownership of mobile at a company solving a real, urgent problem in schools Competitive salary + meaningful equity The opportunity to make real impact in the education space Doorman is based in New York City.
