Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid position for a Founding Engineer at Lunera Health. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable software solutions that are central to Lunera's virtual sleep care platform. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with cross-functional teams, building robust backend systems, integrating with electronic medical records (EMRs), developing APIs for wearable devices and smartphone data capture, improving existing features, driving product innovation, and maintaining the end-to-end performance and reliability of the platform. As a Founding Engineer, you will have a direct impact on shaping the technical direction of the company.

Qualifications

United States Citizen or Permanent Resident
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required
4+ years of professional software engineering experience
Prior experience in a health-tech or early-stage startup environment preferred
Proficiency in software development using technologies such as Python, JavaScript, or relevant programming languages
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and familiarity with deploying, scaling, and managing cloud applications
Proven skills in developing API-driven architectures, databases, and system integrations, particularly with healthcare systems (EMRs like Healthie) and consumer health devices
Experience integrating with wearable devices (e.g., Apple Watch, Fitbit, Oura Ring) and smartphone platforms (iOS/Android) for health data collection
Proficiency in front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or similar technologies
Comfort and familiarity with AI tools and development, including working with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, or similar) and integrating AI/ML capabilities into production applications
Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git) and testing frameworks
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a focus on ensuring system performance and reliability
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote, startup environment
Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and HIPAA compliance is a plus
Compensation

Base Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 annually
Equity: 0.5% - 2.0% of the company
4-year vesting schedule with 1-year cliff
