At Motivus, as a Backend Engineering Lead, you will own the day-to-day delivery across the SDLC, translating business requirements into clear technical work, ensuring high-quality releases, and maintaining production stability. You will collaborate closely with product, architects, DevOps, and engineers to enforce delivery discipline, operational readiness, and reliable backend services on Azure, while mentoring the team and protecting engineering focus. Responsibilities: Delivery Ownership & SDLC Execution Own and manage the end-to-end delivery flow across the SDLC (Requirements → Development → UAT → Release). Translate business and product requirements into clear technical work items, acceptance criteria, and testable increments aligned with architectural direction. Lead sprint rituals (planning, refinement, stand-ups) and maintain strong backlog hygiene, dependencies, and delivery visibility. Proactively identify and remove blockers, risks, and cross-team dependencies. Quality, Release & Operational Readiness Enforce quality gates (Definition of Ready / Definition of Done) before release approval. Ensure test coverage, telemetry, security checks, and rollback or mitigation plans are in place. Coordinate release discipline and environment promotion in partnership with DevOps. Own post-deployment monitoring, alerting, and initial incident triage. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and drive preventative follow-up actions. Cloud, DevOps & Operations (Azure) Support backend services running on Azure (App Services, Azure Functions, Storage). Champion operational best practices including monitoring, observability, secrets management, access control, and cost awareness. Partner with DevOps teams to standardize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions. Maintain clean audit trails, approvals, and release documentation. Technical Standards & Team Enablement Review code to ensure consistency, performance awareness, and alignment with established architecture. Escalate non-trivial architectural concerns to the Architect when needed. Mentor and unblock engineers through coaching on debugging, testing strategies, and delivery best practices. Raise the bar on engineering discipline without micromanaging. Stakeholder Communication Communicate delivery status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to product and business stakeholders. Set realistic expectations and protect engineering focus from unnecessary churn. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 6–10 years of experience in software delivery roles (Senior Engineer, Tech Lead, or similar). 2–4 years coordinating delivery across teams or owning execution in a product/platform environment. Strong experience owning delivery from requirements through release and production support. Solid understanding of .NET / C# fundamentals sufficient for code reviews and technical guidance. Hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Services, Azure Functions, Key Vault, Storage, and Azure Monitor / Application Insights. Experience enforcing quality gates, test strategies, telemetry, and release readiness. Strong knowledge of CI/CD workflows, source control, branching strategies, and PR reviews. Experience collaborating closely with DevOps teams. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM, Terraform). Familiarity with cost optimization, environment parity, and observability best practices. Experience working in enterprise or large-scale backend platforms. Azure certifications (Administrator, Developer, or DevOps Engineer Expert).
