About the Role: We're looking for an experienced Backend Python Engineer to join our team. You'll design and develop scalable backend systems, work with modern Python frameworks, and contribute to our core data processing and API infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects involving real-time data pipelines, microservices architecture, cloud-based solutions, and AI-powered features. Responsibilities: You'll be responsible for designing and implementing robust REST APIs using FastAPI, building and maintaining data models with SQLAlchemy, and ensuring code quality through comprehensive testing with pytest. You'll work with Kafka-based data pipelines, deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes clusters, and use Helm for infrastructure orchestration. Your work will include containerizing applications with Docker, building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and integrating them with our backend services, optimizing database queries, and implementing proper error handling and validation. You'll collaborate with other engineers on architectural decisions, participate in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain comprehensive documentation for your systems. Required Qualifications: • 3+ years of professional backend development experience with Python • Strong proficiency with FastAPI for building APIs, SQLAlchemy for ORM and database interactions, and Pydantic for data validation • Solid experience writing and maintaining test suites with pytest, including unit and integration tests • Experience with containerization and orchestration: Docker for containerizing applications, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and Helm for managing Kubernetes deployments • Proficiency with Apache Kafka for message queues and event streaming • Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems • Familiarity with relational databases and RESTful API design principles • Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments and proficient with git-based version control Preferred Qualifications • Asynchronous Python programming experience • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) proficiency • SQL optimization knowledge • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools • Familiarity with observability and monitoring practices • Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines • Proficiency in Go • Experience with Agile methodologies • Background in data engineering projects or microservices architecture What We're Looking For Beyond technical skills, we value engineers who write clean, maintainable code, communicate effectively with teammates, and take ownership of their work.
