Back-End Developer (Contract | Remote – US)

Duration: 12 months (extension/conversion possible)

Location: Remote (US-based, must work EST hours)



About the Role

We’re hiring a Back-End Developer to join a media technology team focused on automating workflows, building scalable services, and supporting high-volume content and operational systems. You’ll work on cloud-native applications that power complex workflows and integrate across multiple platforms.

This role is hands-on and collaborative, ideal for someone who enjoys building reliable back-end services while partnering closely with engineers, analysts, and product stakeholders.



What You’ll Do

Build and maintain back-end services, REST APIs, and workflow-driven systems in cloud environments
Develop scalable, secure, and observable applications using modern engineering practices
Translate user stories into technical designs and production-ready solutions
Collaborate through code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies
Proactively identify and resolve technical issues in distributed systems


Required Skills

5+ years of experience with Python as a primary language
Experience with SQL and document databases (MongoDB preferred)
Familiarity with cloud-based development, Git, and agile workflows
Strong ownership mindset — able to work independently, ask questions, and take initiative


Nice to Have

Experience with workflow engines (e.g., Temporal or similar orchestration tools)
Exposure to containerized deployment pipelines and cloud infrastructure


Tech Environment

Python (primary), plus Node, Rust, or C#
SQL & NoSQL databases
Workflow/orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Step Functions, Argo, Jenkins)
Cloud-native, container-based architecture


Interview Process

One 60-minute technical interview with engineering leadership
