About the Role 
Blueberries. is looking for a Backend Engineer to join our team and help build the core of our AI-powered FP&A platform. You will build major systems from scratch and deploy on AWS (with the help of a cloud engineer if necessary). You will work within a 3-person engineering team to deliver a fast, functional MVP for early design-partner clients. We expect strong development practices in versioning, testing, integration and deployment automation, breaking work into small testable increments, and communicating effectively with the team. 



Responsibilities 
Design and build the core backend of our web-based SaaS platform 
Implement backend data processing, background workers, and scheduled tasks 
Architect and manage production databases 
Build and maintain authentication and authorization flows 
Develop clean, modular services in Python (FastAPI/Django) or Node.js (Express/NestJS) 
Collaborate with ML and cloud engineers on deployments, pipelines, and integrations 
Optionally manage data connectivity flows (n8n integrations) 
Follow strong engineering practices: testing, versioning, CI/CD, documentation 
Contribute to a fast-moving, MVP-focused build cycle 


Required Skills & Experience 
Strong background in backend development 
Proficiency in Python (FastAPI/Django) and/or Node.js (Express/NestJS) 
Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) 
Knowledge of Redis or DynamoDB 
Solid understanding of API design and backend architecture 
Experience with testing, version control, and CI/CD practices 
Knowledge of vector databases, event-driven architecture (SQS, EventBridge), or integration tools (n8n, Zapier) - AWS Experience is a strong plus. 
Ability to work flexible hours when needed 
Organization skills and ability to plan and work in small increments and iterate fast 
Autonomous, pro-active, and execution-driven
