Job Summary
We’re seeking a pragmatic, hands-on Technical Lead /Backend Developer to own our back-end architecture and guide a small software team. You’ll partner closely with product and contractors, mentor internal developers, and roll up your sleeves to optimize our AWS infrastructure, streamline development workflows, and modernize our full-stack applications.

Duties

Lead & Mentor: Grow and guide a team of 5–6 engineers (API/backend, front-end, mobile, dashboard), conduct code reviews, and foster best practices.
Architect & Build: Design and implement Node.js/TypeScript RESTful and GraphQL APIs; model and optimize data in DynamoDB/MongoDB and PostgreSQL/MySQL.
Own AWS Deployments: Develop serverless components (Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito) and containerized services (ECS/EKS); manage IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform).
Enhance DevOps: Maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, implement chaos testing and canary releases, and monitor performance with CloudWatch, X-Ray, and APM tools.
Elevate Security: Embed secure coding, threat modeling, RBAC, OAuth/JWT, and encryption best practices into every release.
Collaborate & Deliver: Translate product requirements into technical plans, coordinate with contractors and cross-functional teams, and ensure on-time releases.
Experience

Leadership: 2+ years in a tech-lead or architect role; proven ability to deliver end-to-end projects and mentor engineers.
Back-End Expertise:
JavaScript/TypeScript (3+ years; ES6+, async patterns, design patterns)
Node.js (3+ years; Express, NestJS, or equivalent)
Databases: DynamoDB (preferred) and/or MongoDB; PostgreSQL or MySQL
AWS Proficiency: 2+ years with Lambdas, API Gateway, Cognito, S3, EC2, RDS; Terraform or CloudFormation.
API Design: Deep understanding of REST (HATEOAS, HTTP semantics) and GraphQL schema development.
DevOps & CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Docker/ECS/EKS orchestration, build/test automation.
Security & Compliance: OWASP Top 10, OAuth2/JWT, RBAC, data encryption at rest/in transit.
Front-End Partnership: 1+ year collaborating on React apps (hooks, Redux/context, performance tuning).
Version Control: Git branching strategies, merge request workflows.
Agile Process: Sprint planning, story estimation, Jira or similar.
Additional Skills Desired

Experience with OpenSearch (cluster setup, indexing, relevance tuning)
Background in e-commerce or digital publishing
Prior work on government or law-enforcement products
Salesforce administration or scripting knowledge
Familiarity with Kubernetes/service meshes

Pay: $94,564.16 - $113,883.73 per year
