Come join a mission that can save the world! About the role:As a Senior Performance Engineer, you will establish performance metrics for our networked applications, document any deviations, and suggest improvements. You will design and execute tests to verify these metrics, simulating real-world and worst-case customer scenarios. Your goal is to gather data and develop a data-driven path forward, ensuring we deliver high-quality, high-performance products.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement solutions to evaluate and improve the performance and scalability of Dragos products Research industry best practices for application performance tuning, document and propose changes, test, and iterate to create an optimal set of performance configurations for different use cases and workloadsAnalyze performance results and metrics to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for optimizationsDevelop and enhance test frameworks and build virtual systems to isolate dependenciesAs needed, perform root cause on performance and scalability support requests and contribute to product code to alleviate these issuesRead platform software code and understand the internal workings of the productDefine and develop tooling for load simulation, test automation, performance measurement and reportingQualifications5+ years of proven experience in performance engineeringStrong Linux skills in administration and performance optimizationsSoftware development skills; specifically in Python. Experience in performance tuning microservices and networks, various levels of application code, database layer (relational and non-relational databases), network stack, and operating systemAn understanding of Java and the JVM, or a strong desire to learnExperience with administration, monitoring, and tuning of big data application stacks and pipelines, i.e., Elasticsearch, Mongo, Airflow, RabbitMQAn ability to go as deep down the stack as necessary to understand a system’s performance.Strong knowledge of operating system internals is a major plusComfortable with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and GIT in terms of both tools and systems administration  CompensationBase Salary: $142,000Competitive equity packageComprehensive benefits plan#LI-NH1 #LI-REMOTEDragos is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other basis forbidden under federal, state, or local laws.
