Job Description: Job Summary
This role supports the Generative AI for Forms SBIR project and focuses on researching and developing innovative approaches for capturing, analyzing, and improving sailor-reported maintenance issues. The selected candidate will be a senior-level full-stack developer with proven experience building mobile applications. They will work on a small, advanced R&D team that is integrating modern AI/ML technologies into mobile and web platforms, including narrative capture from mobile devices.
This role is ideal for a senior developer who enjoys tackling short-term, high-impact technical challenges within a research setting. It is not a production mobile development position — mobile responsibilities will be significant but not full-time.

Responsibilities
Design and implement lightweight mobile interfaces for capturing narrative problem descriptions from sailors
Collaborate with AI developers and researchers to integrate mobile data collection with backend semantic analysis and LLM pipelines
Work across the full stack to support web-based review, editing, and replacement recommendation features
Conduct technical experiments, prototype new UI/UX concepts, and evaluate mobile capture effectiveness in real-world conditions
Maintain and extend internal documentation, code repositories, and Agile tickets (Jira, ADO, or similar)
Participate in team research reviews and help translate user testing feedback into refined functionality
Help ensure AI-generated outputs are usable, accessible, and accurate across interfaces
Provide architectural recommendations that align with edge deployment constraints
Stay current with trends in mobile UI/UX, full-stack architecture, and applied AI development

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 7+ years of software development experience
Demonstrated experience building and deploying mobile apps (iOS, Android, or cross-platform frameworks like React Native or Flutter)
5+ years full-stack development experience with at least one modern stack (e.g., Node.js, Python, C#, React)
Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and backend integration
Demonstrated ability to work independently on self-directed R&D efforts and collaborate within multi-functional teams
