About the role: Bixal is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Senior DevOps Architect to lead the design and development of modern, scalable solutions for federal government projects and proposals. You’ll work across engineering, business development, and delivery teams to craft solutions that solve real-world challenges, win new work, and drive Bixal’s growth in the federal digital services space. Location: Remote from any location within DC, Maryland, or Virginia: Work from anywhere in the DMV Area (with occasional office visits). Must be legally authorized to work in the US. Bixal does not provide visa sponsorship. Compensation: The salary range for this role is $120,000 – $180,000. In the spirit of transparency, most offers tend to land near the midpoint of the range. Responsibilities: Technical Solution Design & Architecture Architect modern, cloud-native solutions for proposals and active projects Ensure technical alignment with Bixal’s capabilities, industry best practices, and federal digital service standards Lead the development of secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure Manage container platforms using Docker, Kubernetes (e.g., EKS, AKS, GKE), and Helm Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools Integrate DevSecOps best practices into automated deployment and release processes Business Development & Proposal Support Collaborate with business development teams to shape technical solutioning early in the pursuit process Write and review proposal content (SOWs, technical volumes, staffing plans, compliance matrices) that differentiates Bixal Present solutions in client and partner discussions, orals, and whiteboarding sessions Align solutions with client mission needs, emerging technologies, and digital transformation priorities Technical Leadership & Innovation Serve as a thought leader across projects and proposals, contributing to Bixal’s technical vision and strategy Mentor technical staff and guide solution direction for complex federal programs Represent Bixal in industry events, meetups, and thought leadership opportunities Other relevant duties as assigned, trained, and qualified to perform   Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native solution design Strong proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi) and scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) Proven experience developing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI Advanced knowledge of containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes Familiarity with DevSecOps best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO, etc.) Experience designing solutions aligned with human-centered design, Agile methodologies, and digital service delivery in the federal space Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and collaborate across cross-functional digital environments Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor technical concepts to diverse stakeholders Strong understanding of federal procurement processes and contracting vehicle Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance  Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working with CMS, GSA, VA, or other civilian agencies.  Certifications in AWS, Azure, or enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF).  Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms, AI/ML, or data science solutions.
