In this hands-on leadership role, you'll guide a small team of AI engineers and help define, build, and deploy next-generation AI applications—particularly those centered around chat agents and intelligent automation. This role is perfect for a senior-level engineer ready to take the next step into technical leadership while staying deeply engaged in coding, experimentation, and infrastructure. You’ll work across model orchestration, multi-tenant architectures, and AWS cloud environments—bringing clarity, velocity, and vision to our AI capabilities. **This is a remote role** Key Responsibilities Lead a small team of AI engineers, setting direction, mentoring junior members, and ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery of AI-driven solutions. Design and build AI agents and chat-based tools that operate reliably in a multi-tenant architecture. Integrate with MCP (Model Context Protocol) services and orchestrate workflows using LLMs from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models. Ensure platform scalability, performance, and security across tenant environments. Drive end-to-end ownership of projects: from architectural design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration. Partner closely with product management, DevOps, and other engineering leads to align roadmap, scope, and timelines. Stay up to date on LLM and agentic AI developments, continuously evaluating new approaches for real-world implementation. Champion a fast-paced, experimentation-forward culture where bold ideas are welcome and delivery velocity matters. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 5+ years of experience in software engineering, 2+ focused on AI/ML systems, with 2+ years in technical leadership or mentoring roles. Proven experience developing and deploying LLM-based agents (LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.) in production environments. Deep understanding of multi-tenant systems, including tenant isolation, security, and shared resource optimization. Experience integrating with MCP services or AI orchestration layers for chat or task-based tools. Strong AWS experience; comfortable with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), serverless compute, observability tooling, and scaling. Familiarity with modern MLOps and AI application patterns (e.g., vector DBs, retrieval-augmented generation, streaming inference). Excellent written and verbal communication skills – capable of representing team efforts to stakeholders and leadership. Comfortable pushing boundaries, trying new approaches, and driving continuous improvement in engineering practices. Nice to Have Prior experience in early-stage or high-growth environments where adaptability and rapid iteration are critical. Frontend familiarity (React/Next.js) for building AI chat UIs or admin dashboards. Experience with agent frameworks, model fine-tuning, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
