This role involves maintaining optimal performance and functionality for claims processing, including the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of Windows-based servers. The Systems Administrator will also troubleshoot server issues and provide technical support to the development team, ensuring a reliable production environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 25% System Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain the Facets system to meet the specific needs of the healthcare payer organization. Ensure the system is optimized for performance and scalability. Implement and manage system upgrades and patches. Install, configure, and maintain Facets application server software and supporting suite of tools. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues. Support and maintain security measures to protect the server from potential threats. Collaborate with developers to deploy applications on the server. Execute the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows-based systems. Troubleshoot systems, providing failure analysis and recovery. Support system requests which include new servers, firewall changes, load balancer needs, and DNS requirements. Provide 24x7 Production environment support via an on-call rotation. Create and maintain documentation of architecture and other environmental areas. Interface with 3rd party vendors on technical needs and/or triaging of issues. Support disaster recovery and business continuity processes, exercises, and documentation. 25% Identifies gaps in requirements and solves problems for the supporting staff. Identifies sequencing of services and technologies that are integrated in later phases of the project. Leads the evaluation of risk and opportunity impacts to existing or proposed projects/programs and implements risk mitigation actions. Develops ways to improve performance and increase system availability. Provides recommendations to infuse new technology. Compile, assess, and report data results from software testing and analysis. 25% Supports the Project Manager as the technical team lead on the project. Estimates the technical costs of projects for clients and project managers. Confers with clients to identify requirements and determine desired outcomes to formulate the design of the system or offer alternatives. Demonstrated experience with front-end and back-end programing and integration frameworks and tools. Assist in the estimation of development of application features. 25% Leads software design and development teams. Identifies, analyzes, defines, and coordinates user, customer, and stakeholder needs and translates them into technical requirements. Manages technical resources (hardware, software, licenses, and services). Plans and leads transformation initiatives to new software architectures. Extend open-source libraries and systems as necessary to meet the needs of the team. Play a crucial role in product scoping and roadmap / architecture discussions. Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices. Ensure code quality, deployment standards and practices. Mentoring junior developers. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Leads a team utilizing a matrix management system. QUALIFICATIONS: Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience. Experience: 8 years proven success overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems and applications. Preferred Qualifications: 15+ years Software design and development, software test and evaluation, software requirements management. 5+ years of demonstrated knowledge of Cognizant Facets. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows Server OS. Knowledge of core networking concepts to support troubleshooting. Demonstrated skill in collaborating professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to maintain a successful work environment. Proficient at Microsoft office products. Basic understanding of Oracle, SQL Server, or equivalent database technology. Ability to read application logs (primarily .NET). Scripting or programming skills. Experience working with monitoring and management tools such as Dynatrace or RHQ. Insurance industry knowledge. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of programming languages and web based technologies. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to collaborate to solve technical problems across teams. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
