Job Description: Lead Developer (Early-Stage Startup) Position Overview We're looking for a dynamic Lead Developer who's ready to jump into a pivotal role at our early-stage startup. This is a unique opportunity combining responsibilities from Systems Engineering, Full-Stack Development, and Technical Project Management. You’ll play a central role in shaping our technical direction, from building comprehensive full-stack solutions to managing robust infrastructure and overseeing project timelines. As an agile, remote-only startup, we need someone who’s autonomous, extremely communicative, and excited about delivering clear results and leading a growing team. Key Responsibilities Full-Stack Development (60%) Lead and execute full-stack software development, owning the frontend, backend, and data layers with JavaScript/TypeScript technologies like React, Express, PostgreSQL, tRPC, and Drizzle ORM. Leverage modern dev-ops practices and AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Warp, and Agentic workflows) to streamline our development lifecycle and rapidly ship quality code. Advanced Systems & Infrastructure Engineering (20%) Architect scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud. Develop foundational libraries, reusable components, and advanced caching strategies to boost system performance and reliability. Lead critical initiatives around infrastructure security, monitoring, observability, and compliance, ensuring best practices from day one. Technical Project Management (20%) Plan and manage technical projects from inception to deployment, maintaining clear timelines, milestones, and proactive stakeholder communication. Mentor team members, conduct detailed code reviews, produce clear technical documentation using Markdown, ClickUp, and Docusaurus, and foster continuous knowledge-sharing. Champion agile methodologies to balance rapid iteration and high-quality standards within our startup environment. Ideal Candidate Qualifications Proven hands-on experience in modern full-stack software development and infrastructure architecture, ideally in startup or rapid-growth environments. Strong practical experience with cloud-native technologies (AWS, Google Cloud), observability frameworks, and best-in-class security practices. Comfortable interpreting and integrating complex technical requirements, with proficiency in DAX, M code, and TMDL. Exceptional project management skills, able to collaborate across teams, execute effectively under pressure, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes. This Lead Developer role is perfect for an ambitious, entrepreneurial senior-level developer eager to drive technical strategy, build impactful products, and significantly influence our startup’s future growth.
