About Alderon Games:

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work on one or several of our backend services. You will have a significant role in maintaining and optimizing our gaming platforms, ensuring their robustness, reliability, and scalability. This role involves designing and implementing server-side logic for our games and related systems whilst working within a live service environment, thus, the ability to work in a fast-paced and reactionary manner is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using PHP (Laravel).
Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.
Assist in the development process through Docker containerization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of services.
Implement, maintain, and monitor security measures.
Provide optimization solutions to improve overall system performance.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tools, technologies, and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, specifically with PHP Laravel.
Strong understanding of server-side templating languages and server-side CSS preprocessors.
Proficient knowledge of version control systems (Git / SVN).
Familiarity with continuous integration.
Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work in a reactionary manner.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vue, etc.)
Experience with scalable cloud computing solutions.
Knowledge of server architecture and networking.
In-depth understanding of Docker, Kubernetes and the relationship between the two.
