Job Title: AWS Cloud Engineer Job Type: Full-time Fully Remote Location: United States Key Responsibilities: AWS Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and manage production AWS environments using EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, and IAM. Configure and maintain secure networking using VPCs, subnets, NAT gateways, route tables, and security groups. Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain configurations aligned with FedRAMP Moderate/High and NIST 800-53 controls. Apply security best practices (e.g., KMS encryption, IAM least privilege, logging with CloudTrail). Prepare documentation and evidence to support audits, security reviews, and control assessments. Automation & Optimization: Automate cloud operations using AWS Systems Manager, Lambda, or scripting languages (Python, Bash). Monitor performance, cost, and availability using AWS CloudWatch, Trusted Advisor, and Cost Explorer. Collaboration & Documentation: Produce and maintain detailed architecture diagrams, system documentation, and compliance process workflows. Work closely with DevOps, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure secure and scalable solutions. Qualifications: Core Requirements: 3+ years of experience managing AWS production environments. Proficiency with core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS), networking (VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, Route 53), and IAM. Deep understanding of cloud security practices and FedRAMP/NIST 800-53 compliance. Strong scripting experience (Python, Bash, or PowerShell). Preferred Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) AWS Certified SysOps Administrator AWS Certified Security – Specialty Bonus Experience: Infrastructure-as-Code with CloudFormation or Terraform. Containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes). Experience in Azure cloud environments and hybrid architecture. Familiarity with NextGen Firewall configuration and ongoing maintenance (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet). Background in government contracts or DoD compliance frameworks (e.g., IL2/4/5/6 environments). Experience with CRM systems from a backend/integration perspective, including setup, API integrations, data migrations, and troubleshooting Soft Skills: Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Able to self-direct and proactively manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills with a focus on documentation, collaboration, and process improvement. High integrity and sound judgment when working with elevated access in secure environments.
