We are working to launch 1,000 next-generation venture capital firms, changing the face of venture capital. We run VC Lab, the leading venture capital accelerator worldwide, and operate the Decile Hub platform — reducing the barriers of entry for next-generation investors to launch and grow meaningful early-stage investment firms. We're looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join the Decile Group tech team. Read more here: https://github.com/VCLab-Inc/Engineering The ideal candidate has real-world production Rails experience and the confidence to own complex, high-stakes features from architecture through deployment. You take pride in writing clean, maintainable code. You use AI tools actively — in your coding workflow, debugging, and design — not because you have to, but because you understand how it makes you faster and sharper. You don't need a fancy degree or big tech pedigree, but you do need to be a strong engineer, a good communicator, and someone who takes ownership seriously. Basic requirements: You'll be expected to complete a Rails coding challenge as part of the interview process (everyone on the Decile Group team has done well on it). You must live and work within a few time zones of Pacific (California) time. We are on Zoom and Slack a lot. You must be able to take ownership of a complex feature and drive it to completion with minimal hand-holding. You should be actively using AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) as part of your daily workflow. If you want to work on a product that matters, with a small team that holds a high bar, and grow significantly along the way — you'll fit in at Decile Group. And we want to work with you too. If you want to work on a product that matters, with a small team that holds a high bar, and grow significantly along the way — you'll fit in at Decile Group. And we want to work with you too. Decile Group (https://decilegroup.com) is transforming venture capital into a force for good in the world. We are working to launch 10,000 next-generation venture capital firms by 2030, fundamentally changing the face of venture capital. We operate an integrated platform for modern venture capital, spanning education, software, and fund operations. VC Lab trains the next generation of fund managers. Decile Hub provides AI-enabled tools for fund operations. Start Fund enables managers to launch institutional-grade funds in under 24 hours. Decile Capital deploys capital into emerging managers. Together, these offerings make venture capital more accessible to anyone with world-class ideas and execution. Role Overview We’re looking for a Product Manager who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and brings clarity, structure, and execution excellence across cross-functional teams. You’ll own a meaningful product surface area end-to-end—from discovery to delivery to adoption—and partner closely with engineering, operations, legal, and customer teams to ship high-quality tools that directly impact how hundreds of funds operate. This role is ideal for someone who balances product intuition with operational rigor, is comfortable gathering and synthesizing feedback from many sources, and can convert complex workflows into intuitive, scalable software experiences. What You'll Do Own complex features end-to-end. Take a problem from spec to production — architecture decisions, implementation, testing, and deployment. You're accountable for what you ship. Build reliable, scalable Rails systems. Work across the full Rails stack: models, services, background jobs, APIs, and the front end. Write code that your teammates can read, extend, and trust. Collaborate closely with product and design. Ask the right questions before writing a line of code. Push back when a spec doesn't make sense. Help the team make better decisions with your technical perspective. Use AI to write better code, faster. Leverage AI tools throughout your workflow — code generation, debugging, refactoring, documentation. Model what AI-first engineering looks like at Decile Group. Improve the systems around you. Identify technical debt that matters, propose solutions, and follow through. Leave the codebase better than you found it. Mentor and elevate teammates. Code review with care. Share knowledge generously. Raise the level of the people around you. What You Bring 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience in production environments Deep understanding of Rails conventions, ActiveRecord, background processing (Sidekiq/etc.), and RESTful API design Strong instincts for performance, security, and maintainability Experience with front-end technologies — you can build clean, functional UI and aren't afraid of JavaScript Active use of AI coding tools in your daily workflow Excellent written communication — your PR descriptions and technical comments are clear and useful Comfort owning work independently and flagging blockers early Nice to Have Experience with financial, legal, or compliance-adjacent SaaS products Familiarity with fund administration, venture capital, or investment management workflows Experience with Hotwire/Turbo/Stimulus or modern Rails front-end patterns How to Apply: If you don't tick every box above, we'd still encourage you to apply. We're building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.   Please describe why you are uniquely qualified for this position in the competitive field of Venture Capital to apply, as well as submitting your resume.   Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
