This role sets a high bar for code quality, architecture decisions, and DevOps practices, while building a high-performing culture and partnering closely with Product and enterprise/application architects. Key responsibilities Execution and delivery: Own planning and delivery across one or more teams; manage dependencies and risks; maintain predictability and delivery speed amid change. Technical leadership (hands-on): Stay close to architecture and code (without coding every day); guide and challenge solution design; drive a high bar for code quality, testing, and design; manage technical debt intentionally. Engineering fundamentals: Drive DevOps excellence (CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, deployment strategies), sound API design, and strong data modeling with clear tradeoffs. Secure, reliable systems: Promote secure coding (common vulnerabilities), observability, resiliency, and redundancy appropriate for production services. People leadership: Hire and develop strong talent; coach and mentor engineers (and technical leads); build an inclusive, high-performing culture. Stakeholder influence: Partner with Product and enterprise/application architects; align across engineering teams; handle disagreement constructively; communicate status, tradeoffs, and risks clearly. Leadership mindset: Operate with ownership, accountability, and transparency; build trust; and live the Assurant Way. Qualifications Overall 10+ years of IT experience, at least 5 years as software development lead or architect  and 5+ years in a technical leadership or people-management role. Fluent across a diverse technical stack (iOS & Android Apps, Salesforce Service Cloud, Salesforce Community Portal); strong solution design, architecture tradeoffs, API design, and data modeling. DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment strategies. Working knowledge of secure coding practices/common vulnerabilities; reliability patterns (observability, resiliency, redundancy). Proven ability to plan and prioritize, manage dependencies, and deliver predictably using metrics-driven continuous improvement. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence across engineering and architecture. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
