You will own the systems behind eligibility, enrollment, partner configuration and program matching—modernizing legacy architecture into clean, independently deployable services without losing data integrity or partner trust along the way. This means building for auditability and explainability, so every qualification decision has a clear answer: what rule fired, what configuration version was used and why. Responsibilities: Own end-to-end delivery for eligibility, enrollment and partner configuration services—from technical spec through production. Build the program matching engine: a rules-and-signals service that determines member qualification with clear auditability and explainability. Design versioned partner configuration services with validation tooling and safe migration paths from legacy systems. Build eligibility and onboarding event workflows with replay and backfill capabilities. Define domain event catalogs and API contracts with backward compatibility, versioning and clear error semantics. Establish SLIs/SLOs for partner-critical flows and build the observability that makes system health measurable. Mentor 3–4 engineers through code reviews, pairing and technical guidance. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree at a minimum. 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role. Strong Python fluency—you've built and operated production services, ideally with FastAPI or similar async frameworks. Deep relational database experience: schema design, indexing, query performance and migration patterns (PostgreSQL preferred). Experience designing APIs other teams depend on—you think about contracts, versioning and backward compatibility. You've safely migrated systems from old to new: parallel runs, backfills, data correctness validation, clean cutover. You've worked in systems with complex state machines, workflow orchestration or multi-step business processes. You communicate technical complexity clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. $165,000 - $175,000 a year
